Spindrift wins Best Sport Podcast at the Independent Podcast Awards

The Independent Podcast Awards, which celebrates podcasts created without corporate ties, took place at Kings Place in London at the end of October 2023. Twenty-one categories showcased the depth and breadth of independent podcasting, covering everything from Arts and Culture to Gaming, History and Horror.

In many ways, it already felt like Spindrift had won as it made it into the finalists list amongst some incredible company, with podcasts spanning adventure, football, rugby and golf. To then hear Spindrift named as Best Sports Podcast during the awards ceremony was just incredible!

The judges commented that "Spindrift is stacked with interesting interview-led episodes where off-road cycling serves as a topic for women to talk about wider issues and interests."

“The host, Aoife, comes across as really assured and knowledgeable, and is a really good interviewer. Production is slick, the audio quality is great and all in all sounds really professional. A very well put together show targeting a niche that needs more representation.”

For a relatively niche sport, explored in a usual way, with a female host, to win the award is amazing. Spindrift set out to engage listeners with the stories that go beyond the nuts and bolts of cycling and into the experiences, emotions and insights around it, and to have this recognised and valued means so much.
